I have been a resident and property owner on Folly Beach since June 1992. Eleven years ago, Skip and Sam Fink moved onto our street and immediately became fully integrated into the culture and community of our quiet little street. Whether it was greeting new neighbors, hosting, participating in a neighborhood gathering, or discussing Folly Beach issues on dog walks, Skip and Sam were “all in”.

Skip has done a thorough job on his website listing his credentials for a position with Folly Beach City Council; however, I would like to take it a “step further” and talk about the person that I know as my neighbor “from three doors down”.

With my 40 years of service to Charleston County School District, and the last 21 years as a middle school principal on James Island, I can spot a strong leader. Skip will listen to all sides of an issue and then let you know what he thinks. If he needs to gather more data to plan, he will tell you. He won’t tell you what he thinks you want to hear, and you can trust his responses.

Skip is a consensus builder and knows the steps to guide that process. He is polished, professional and sincere. He is a smart man who has a wealth of knowledge on lots of topics and I am in awe of his depth and breadth of knowledge. When I think of someone who can lead and guide the residents of Folly Beach through our current and future issues, I know that I can trust Skip Fink as a man of strong character and commitment…And when I think of the person that I want to sit up front in the Council Chambers representing all residents of this Island, Skip is that person.
